Background

Before Gabilam, Tobin worked as an Acquisition Analyst at Fairfield Residential, leading acquisition analysis across the Western United States for Value-Add and Core-Plus funds. He was the lead analyst on 15 closed deals totaling $1B in volume, and underwrote more than 400 multifamily and mixed-use assets across 13 states, ranging from $35MM to $300MM. That work included building the financial models used to bring deals to Investment Committee, coordinating with regional brokers on comps, and evaluating joint-venture recapitalizations for distressed equity groups.

Before Fairfield, Tobin spent two years as an Associate in Investment Sales at NorthMarq Multifamily, helping close over $300 million in transactions across the San Diego and Inland Empire markets, positioning middle-market to institutional-sized assets for sale and supporting underwriting for Fortune 500 REITs. He started out as a Real Estate Private Equity Summer Analyst at The Roxborough Group in San Francisco, underwriting acquisitions across multifamily, office, and industrial asset classes in Excel and ARGUS.

Tobin graduated from UCLA with a Bachelor of Arts in Business Economics and a Simon Fellowship, and was one of 40 students selected for the Benjamin Graham Value Investing Program. He holds a California DRE salesperson license and is an Urban Land Institute Associate Member. Gabilam grew directly out of this experience: the same modeling discipline used on $1B+ of institutional deals, now running hours ahead of the U.S. so work is ready before the workday starts.
